FAQs
Q: WHAT IS CAKE A DIFFERENCE?
A: Cake A Difference is the annual fundraising initiative from Bliss, the special care baby charity. Bliss offers guidance and information at a critical time in families' lives; funds ground-breaking research; and campaigns for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born.
Q: WHEN DO I SELL MY CUPCAKES?
A: Cake A Difference 2012 takes place 6-12 February, so you can sell cupcakes all through that week (at work, for example) or just on the Saturday or Sunday morning - it's up to you. Be sure to keep good food hygiene in mind and, if you're planning on selling in bulk, a paper bag is better than plastic.
Q: CAN I BAKE SOMETHING ELSE?
A: Cake A Difference is all about the cupcake. We've got muffin against brownies or scones, it's just that, for us, cupcakes take the biscuit. You can go all out with sprinkles, glitter and anything else you can think of! Pink icing, sugar hearts, pink sprinkles, as long it's pretty in pink or raunchy in red.
Q: HOW SHOULD I PRICE MY CUPCAKES?
A: That's really up to you, but of course the aim is to sell out and make as much money as you can. Feel free to experiment with mini cupcakes, or 3-for-2 deals – whatever gets people dipping into their pockets.
Q: HOW WILL THE PROCEEDS BE USED?
A: Bliss uses every penny it receives to make a real difference for premature and sick babies and their families. Bliss provides vital support and care to premature and sick babies, offers guidance and information to families, and funds ground-breaking research. Find out more about the great work Bliss does at www.bliss.org.uk.
Q: WHEN SHOULD I SIGN UP?
A: To have time to test a couple of trial batches, and to recruit friends, family or colleagues to help, we recommend getting going as soon as you can. Cake A Difference week runs 6-12 February.
